Light weight, sturdy and inexpensive! Solo canoe paddlers - Great Buy!
I bought this paddle for my Wenonah Solo Plus Canoe to use in Florida. Three firsts for me: Paddling a Solo canoe, Paddling in Florida and Paddling using a double-blade paddle. After 40+ years of paddling using straight and bent shaft single blades in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) and other areas up north I didn't know what to expect here. Even though I'm choosing to incorporate a kayak paddle, I still use a bent shaft half the time, because it's more leisurely and relaxing and usually involves a nice tail wind/breeze. I wrote this longer review to address the concerns which are more concerning solo canoe paddler versus those paddling a kayak.I put quite a bit of research into material, length, brands, weight, etc.. Experienced solo canoe double paddlers were recommending anywhere from a 210 cm to a 280 (7-9 ft about). Their biggest concerns were wind, water drippings in the canoe, physical endurance, canoe gunwale width and maintainable speed. Any length will aid with wind concerns, but for the most part a longer paddle will provide a better adjustment to compensate. Water drippings for a canoe are usually less with the longer the paddle also, but technique also plays a part. Physical endurance is cut shorter with a longer paddle, requiring additional exertion with the added length. Gunwale width is a major consideration, especially the paddles angle to reach the water without scraping the gunwales. The wider the gunwale width means the longer the double bladed paddle. Lastly, maintainable speed has a lot to do with blade length and design, paddler's physical condition and technique and the environmental conditions your paddling in (wind direction, speed, waves, obstructions in the water and water body size). This is all a lot to consider in making a decision, but if you do, the choice you make is more likely going to be a much better one than trial and error.I chose this paddle with all the above considerations and reasons. Yes, I know there are some really great, but much more expensive double paddles out there. But consider this, the cost keeps a lot of $ in your pocket, its light weight is fabulous for endurance, blade design is great (especially for shallow dipping) and the grips on this one are very comfortable. The 3-position blade angle design affords choices and is quick to change while paddling. The length is 96" (8 ft or 243.84 cm) and for a gunwale width on my Solo Plus of 29 inches it works really well. I still get drippings in the canoe, but not when I lean into the paddling or lower to my knees due to wanting to increase my speed or am fighting a wind. Even though a longer paddle would reduce the water drippings, it would also reduce my ability to maintain a longer and/or faster paddling tempo. The water drippings are easy to handle by using a large sponge by your feet and squeezing it out every 20-30 minutes or so. I will say I'm very happy with this paddle after using it and my concerns wondering if it would stand up with such a light weight and lighter material were unfounded. Its sturdiness is great!

Good paddle, Nice price
I had this in the blue color and paddled with it for several years. I actually bought it used and then paddled with it 2-3 times per week, 5-15 miles per trip. There are certainly lighter-weight paddles out there but this one feels nice. The handgrips are hard to beat. It does its job well. So, My old blue paddle finally broke. I snapped the blade off while paddling. I can honestly say I beat it to death through the years. I fish from my kayak and often find myself stuck in rocks, beached in the sand, or any other number of perils. I use my paddle to push myself out of it. To replace it I spent $100 on an "angler" paddle from another brand, then an additional $15 for silicone handgrips. I was never really happy with it. I was still pretty upset when I lost it. Anyway, I was happy to find this paddle at such a great price. So, I bought another one. Hoping I don't lose it. :) You may be wondering how you lose your paddle. Well, I bought a peddle drive kayak, and you don't use the paddle near as much, so the paddle just fell out of the clip and was never seen again. I was 5 miles down the river before I noticed it missing.TL/DR: Good paddle at a fair price. I enjoyed mine so much I bought another one when it broke.

Good paddle, great value
Good paddle and excellent value. I've been using this X-Treme paddle for a few weeks now to paddle around the Gulf, and have been impressed with how much paddle it offers for the money. Excellent choice for occasional kayakers. Good weight, good blade design, sturdy. This paddle is a bit heavier than my regular (and 4x more expensive) Aqua Bond paddle, but I was surprised that I hardly notice the weight difference when out on the water for hours. One thing I don't like about the X-Treme is that it uses foam collars to increase the paddle circumference to comfortable grip dimensions. That's OK for occasional use, but I think the foam padding will wear and tear long before the rest of the paddle. Still, the paddle is cheap enough that this isn't a deal breaker. One recommendation: Before you go out the first time, spray a shot of lubricant at the joint where the two paddle halves come together. The two ends fit together very snugly, and it can be a real challenge to get them back apart with wet hands at the end of your voyage, or even to line up the snap button at the beginning of the journey.

Great for recreational kayaking in all water condition
After lots of research, I decided to purchase 2 of these, and I am so glad I did! We Love them! They are high quality and durable. Much better than the paddles that came with our recreational kayaks. We have used them on a brisk moving river, a calm lake, and even in choppy waters and they cut thru all conditions with ease. They are the perfect length for our kayaks, which have a 30inch cockpit, and they can be broken down into 2 parts for easy transport. The padded handgrips and drip rings included are definitely a nice touch. Like others have said in their reviews, the drip rings and hand grips occasionally may move a little bit when wet but it does not interrupt the use of the paddle. If you are looking for a nice quality paddle for recreational use or fishing that is easy on the budget, I definitely suggest you give these a try. You will not be disappointed.
