Worked great
Took it out on the river in my kayak and it did great. Pumped out all the water in just a couple minutes. I like that we can pump out the water while still on the move. I added a 7” hose, I picked up from Lowes, on the outlet so it would shoot the water over the side. We loved it and recommend if you use a kayak or canoe. Just tether it in and off you go.

Good kayak pump
This is a great pump to keep in your kayak. It works smoothly, easily and efficiently and I’d reasonable priced.

Needs a hose on discharge
This pump works just fine, well worth the money. The suction end has to be placed on the bottom of the kayak or canoe when using it so, like others have mentioned, a short hose needs to be attached to the discharge so that water can be pumped over the side while operating the pump. I carried my pump to a big box hardware store to buy a hose, but they didn’t have the correct size. Then I remembered reading someone had written they had found the correct size hose at an auto parts store. So I went to one and quickly located a hose that slips over the ribbed plastic outlet tight enough a hose clamp isn’t even necessary. I put a 30 inch section of hose on the pump discharge and it now works great. Except now I wish the hose was flexible enough to wrap it around the pump when it isn’t being used. Since adding a discharge hose is necessary to use this pump, it would be really nice if a thin walled flexible hose came with it.

This works
I picked this bilge pump because it was one of the lowest priced, and I got to test it out the very first time I went kayaking. My boat got swamped by some big waves at the shoreline, and I put it to the test. I had noticed that a lot of reviewers had attached a hose (doesn't come with one), so I used the suggestion of one reviewer and got a bicycle inner tube (most bike shops will give them away). That worked flawlessly, until it popped off because my tube was too small. For reference, you need one ¾" diameter, a little smaller is fine, they stretch. Pumping without the hose meant that there wasn't enough propulsion to expel all the water out of the boat. Off to get a better fitting inner tube and it's nearly perfect. Advantage of the tube is that it's more compact to store, and you can adjust the length as needed by snipping off any excess. One inner tube will give you at least two hoses, maybe three.

It sucks
Pumps water from my kayak quickly. Appears well made. Important safety tool that does it's job as it should.

Inconsistent Quality
This product gets a middle of the road review from me because I bought two of them. One worked fine and the other did not work at all, it must have a flaw in the vacuum handle. Unfortunately, the one that didn't work was my spare, and I didn't realize the failure until after the return period. Word to the wise: don't just assume this product will work - test it as soon as it arrives.

Works great
I did a test in my tub and couldn't believe how much water it pulled out. If you want to test it, be careful where the nozzle is facing!

Works for me
The pump is fine. The discharge hose connection is an odd size, so purchasing the discharge hose is probably a good idea.
