Mens Scottish Black Prince Charlie Kilt Jacket & Vest

It appears to be very good quality for the price, but the sizes are NO WHERE NEAR what are advertised. I own three suits, several sport coats, a tweed kilt jacket and waistcoat, and an older prince charlie with waistcoat. All of them are 42R, and all of them fit just fine. So I ordered a 42R. It is way too tight in the chest (jacket will not close), and the white dress shirt shows above the kilt, below the jacket all the way around the body.

I was nervous about this and indeed had thought about buying direct from an old friend in Aberdeen, but he closed up shop. However, this did indeed live up to my expectations and was shipped from Scotland anyway. It fits true to size, so don't go flattering yourself and buy a size under because you think you can squeeze into it for the big holiday party after skipping a few meals. The workmanship is good, there were a few wee buttons that I had to tighten up as the threads were a bit loose, but I've had to do that for suits bought at Macy's and Men's Wearhouse, so nothing I'm not used to. The rest of the construction is ... hardcore, it's hard to describe, but this is a hard wearing garment. Elegant, but in no way decadent. Suffice to say it is of excellent manufacture and will serve me well as formal wear at the Portland opera, symphony and since the university says I can wear a kilt *and trappings* to work as long as it is formal ... it will serve me well there as well.

We ordered the Black Prince Charlie jacket & vest, and an Araca Tweed jacket and vest. The workmanship is excellent and the materials are superb. However, in our naivete, nothing on Amazon or on MacdonalsSporrans prepared us for the nightmare of receiving them via DHL. Little did we realize that DHL would hold the package hostage until we paid nearly $85 in customs duty, and then on each of two days DHL utterly failed to deliver them to us, with their delivery persons claiming they could find no one at home. Bold-faced lies! But, such was already our expectation and dread from past experience with DHL. We finally had to drive 50 miles into Washington DC (the nearest DHL station) to retrieve the package in person. Unfortunately, we have now resolved not to make any more overseas purchases like this through Amazon until we have determined what to expect. If it ever involves DHL, forget it! Sorry about that, Macdonalds Sporrans.

This product is amazing. The quality is stellar, an excellent weight, and price is great. I had been searching for a quality jacket/vest combo at a good price and this is the best I've found. I will warn American buyers that it does run a bit small compared to the sizes we're accustomed. I usually wear a 44 but I bought a 46S -- it was still a bit snug. The sleeves are perfect (I have short arms) and it fits great in the shoulders. I bit snug in the belly so I wish I had bought one more size and simply had it tailored. Guess I will have to lose a few inches in the belly! Overall, I would strongly recommend this product!

As I said, looks grat and the cut an material are of good quality but the size was too small and the buttons were poorly sewed on. I returned it at my own cost and 4 months later have yet to see a refund.

Very nice jacket and vest. I ordered the 48 long to fit my overly long arms and it is pretty good.Unless you have large biceps/triceps; this jacket fits well and like a good off the rack jacket should everywhere but my upper arms. Which is the only reason it has 4 instead of 5 stars.Additionally, the buttons are a bit cheap and will likely have to be replaced soon, the vest first as they see use as closures, but the jacket as wellI will take it to a tailor and see about getting a bit of extra room so I can actually bend my arms.If your upper arms are relatively thin, this jacket is a good buy.

The entire ensemble is perfect, and at a pricepoint we 'commoners' can afford. It was a hit at our Kirkin service, where I call the names of Tartans and it's presenter as they enter the Sanctuary.If one takes time to learn the UK size system, getting your corre t size is much easier.

A little short over all, but due to user error only.My partner wore this for our wedding and looked fabulous. Luxurious material and well made. Theonly point of contention is the under side of the collar is lined with felted wool, but I think it's for structure.I have enjoyed all items ordered from Kilt Society either directly or from this seller.
