Doctor X (1932) Comedy, Crime, Horror Movie / Film on DVD (DVD-R)
S**.
Fabulous Film. One of my top four horror films.
Recently acquired the Blue Ray classic Mystery of The Wax Museum also starring Lionel Atwill and Fay Wray, and saw this classic also on Blue Ray, however only available on Region 1.I was concerned that it may not play on my Region 2 Blue Ray player. However I am pleased to report that there were no issues playing it on my Region 2 (European) Blue Ray player.I already have this film on standard DVD, and still have my VHS recording from a classic BBC horror double bill, back in the 1980's.However having seen the fabulous Blu Ray restoration of The Mystery of the Wax Museum, acquiring Doctor X, having undergone the same full restoration on the same format was essential. I also mainly purchased it for the fact that it also features the long lost and rarely seen B&W version, which features different camera angles and scenes. If you are a fan of the golden age of horror films, then this is a must have purchase. One of the definite Classics of the Horror film. Thoroughly recommended.

Nice video...
Buoyed up by Warner's excellent restoration of Mystery of the Wax Museum I took a chance and ordered this as well. Luckily it's also region free so...This is a beautiful restored print in 2-strip Technicolor and it glows and leaps from the screen. It's almost certainly never looked better. Sound is good and the disc bristles with extras. So with all that, it's a shame the actual film is so dull. Really the plot makes no sense, leaps from place to place without reason and features a bizarrely illogical ending. Fay Wray looks amazing as always but there's nothing to balance her up.So a bit of a shame but an interesting artefact nonetheless. I'd like to see The Most Dangerous Game receive this kind of attention next.

Classic horror never looked so good.
Now this is how you do a restoration. This 1932 classic horror film has been beautifully restored with the full 2 colour Technicolor process shining through in all it's vivid splendour. This is probably the best this film has ever looked and a real credit to UCLA and Warner Bros for putting in so much effort into restoring it. Extras on the disc also include the black & white alternate version which was filmed alongside the Technicolor print. This too looks fantastic and it's great to finally see this again after I first saw it as a young lad back in the days of the BBC horror double bill in the early eighties. Other extras include 2 very informative audio commentaries. A featurettes on the restoration which really shows how much work went into the film. A featurette on Michael Curtiz's horror films and a black & white trailer. This really is an essential purchase for horror film fans and it's also Region free too so grab one now.
