Fun toy for early aged learning!
This is a really cool montessori toy that children can learn with just through playing. As the child is figuring out how to put the blocks back into the three dimensional cube, they’re thinking in terms of space and patterns – all which are promoting mathematical thinking. To them it’s just blocks or a puzzle to put together! It’s a three dimensional puzzle! It’s fun and it’s colorful and it’s play. Yet they are learning. I’ve taught preschool and have worked in special education as well and seen a lot of concepts and really liked this one when I purchased it.As shown in the video slide show, the lid comes off and two sides of the box unhinge and open up to find a set of 8 colorful blocks. They are not all square and they are not all evenly colored on every side. The purpose is to figure out how to fit the blocks back into the cute by matching the pattern on the lid and matching the colors and each sides of the blocks to the ones touching each other, while fitting them together into a perfectly squared cube. Aha…so much can be learned through this binomial cube – and so many concepts to be expanded upon! When the cube is complete, the hinges fold back up and the lid goes back on and the whole cube closes back up to be stored nicely. This is a really cute toy for any classroom!** I received this item at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

One side of the box that stores the blocks was broken when it arrived due to a poor glue job/design
Fast prime shipping, but this is a very cheaply made import product. One side of the box that stores the blocks was broken when it arrived due to a poor glue job/design. The black paint on the multi-colored blocks bleeds over into the red and blue paint. Overall, I'm very underwhelmed by the quality, especially for the $22 price tag. This thing was probably made for pennies in an overseas sweatshop.

playing while sub-consciencely learning
I like the toy. My girls have fun playing with it. This is supposed to help bring the abstract ideas of algebra to something more tangible with a type of visual. The little blocks inside of the block are different colors and shapes, so putting it back together takes some thought. The quality of the wood cube is good and will have years of play if you keep the pieces from getting lost. I love the idea of playing to learn and anything that will help my children get ahead in life or something to come easier to them, I think its a no-brainer to do.The package it came in wasn't desirable so if you are getting this for a gift I would recommend taking it out of the box and rewrapping it in something that looks a little nicer.I was able to buy this at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
