This is the zafu you're looking for....
My practice has been confined to a chair for many years following some back surgery. I bought this in hopes of getting back to a more natural position. The cushion is sturdily sewn from quality cloth though it was a bit too stuffed for my purposes. This is easily remedied by opening the Zipper under the carrying handle. Be warned, the stuffing (buckwheat hulls) comes out very quickly as if from a fountain! I removed enought to fill a gallon sized container and I may still remove more. This is not a soft cushion. The write up makes mention of sitting in sand and it is indeed like sitting on a sandbag. With the removal of some of the material it conforms nicely to the body.My only complaint is that the material is a lint magnet. I'd suggest using a pillow case to prevent this.Would I recommend this product? Yes, it appears to be well made and durable at a fair price.

Excellent for meditation
Very comfortable for meditation. It will be VERY firm when on arrival, but will squashen with use. You can always remove some of the buckwheat -- it comes out easily. But I haven't had to -- after a couple months of meditation it is molded to my butt perfectly.

buckwheat delight!
this here Zafu is a buckwheat delight. it comes packed to the gills with buckwheat husks and that way if you're fat enough you'll squish it into shape or you can spoon out a bit of the excess with a coffee cup and get it comfy enough to support your backside in meditation. enjoy!

which is both good and bad
I have used this zafu almost every day for a year now. It's extremely firm, which is both good and bad... the bad being that your butt goes numb after a while. The good being that it holds it shape reliably and therefore your posture does not suffer.Like others have done, I took out some buckwheat hulls for a more suitable height. I am 5'3" and 110 lbs, so I definitely didn't need all that extra cushioning. I kinda wish I had gone with a smaller size now, as those are just easier to transport when attending group meditation. But for the home, it's perfectly fine.

meditation pillow
This pillow was well made and quite sturdy. My problem is that I am short and the pillow lifted me up to far. It was not comfortable for me which is not what I need for meditation.

nice one!
Very nice zafu. One point I wanted to make -- I found that this was way overstuffed for my personal taste. This is not at all a problem, there is a concealed zipper under the handle part. Clip the restraining thread that keeps the zipper closed, spread out some newspaper (an important step!) and remove some of the stuffing until it's about where you want it. You can save the stuffing in a ziplock bag or discard. Better overstuffed than understuffed, certainly :)Well made, good material and good construction. I do a fair amount of sewing and have dealt with many zafu, so I've got a good basis for comparison. I'd completely recommend getting this one.

Solid construction─Great Product!
I've had for over 3 mos now and the buckwheat is really packed in tight so it is slowly (and very subtly) starting to loosen now which makes it even better. It's props you up pretty good so may be little high rise for some, at 4" I think? In which case, you can stick a blanky or something in front if you like a shallower surface. I think you have to test the waters some when it comes to finding the right meditation cushion for you, but in terms of round cushions with the buckwheat fill is concerned ─ you can't beat this one!

Too firm, your butt may go numb
I bought this cushion to start practicing meditation once again. I remembered from many years back that I had used a round thick cushion that helped me avoid my legs from getting numb. So this cushion looked similar and the reviews suggested that people thought it was comfortable. Unfortunately, the cushion is too firm. It feels like sitting on the floor with no mat. My butt has gone numb every time I tried using it. After reading a review that said you could take out some of the buckwheat to make it more comfortable, I adjusted it twice but still got the same numbing result. I'm returning this cushion and will look for some softer, thick option.
