My son wanted this to keep in his hiking/camping backpack. It works great and we've started two small campfires with it so far. It does take a little practice to create a pile of shavings that will light.

Works exactly as advertised! I have never used a magnesium fire starter before. I followed the included instruction and had a fire on the first strike.

This arrived promptly. I like that fact that it is not dainty, its a full 3/8" rod. I like the ability to scrap mag filings straight from the rod then strike them off giving you a little boost to your fire starting endeavors. To my son, who is a scout, it is pretty easy for him to use it as well.

I have used this on two different occasions to start fires. Both times I was able to get the tinder started on the first try. I have used many magnesium starters over the years and I can tell you, this is definitely a quality firestarter! I would recommend this to anyone in the market for one of these....Top quality!
