Description

Set in the late 1950s at Rydell High School, members of the Burger Palace Boys and Pink Ladies gather after the summer holidays with the main plot being the blossoming relationship between Sandy and Danny. The musical was originally a five hour production staged in Chicago in 1971 and, despite the length, was a huge success. A two hour shortened version eventually opened just off Broadway a year later, subsequently running for 3388 performances in four different venues. The famous film version starring Olivia Newton John and John Travolta was made in 1978.
