Surprisingly easy to use
This product performed well as a toy knitting machine. It operated with smooth cranking and consistent stitch size with the recommended yarn sizes. (#3 - #4 knitted worst) Performance less desirable with #5 Chunky (Bulky) wool.I would recommend this 40 sts machine over the 22 sts machine for any child as it was easier to use and less likely to drop stitches.

Clunking and a bit over priced
Cute knitter and I have made a hat with no dropped stitches, it was fast too. I am not able do a flat panel yet, I think the yarn I have is too thick. You do need thinner yarn for this machine. You can't go too fast in turning the handle either or you start to hear and see it clunking and sticking so take your time. The price point, I feel, was expensive but still cheaper than the Adi brand, which is what I wanted but will see how this one goes first. I did do my research on this one and others before I made my purchase. I only gave a middle of the road rating because of the clunking it made when I tried to go faster and didnt think it should of done that.

You get what you pay for
I bought this little machine as I’m a loom knitter and didn’t want to pay the exhorbanant amount for an Adi machine. It came quickly, and set up was easy & quick and seems durable enough. It comes with 3 balls of No. 4 worsted yarn. As for knitting: It is extremely finicky to cast on both for round (loop) and even more so for flat panel. It takes the machine a fair amount of rows to finally catch right without skipping stitches. You have to really go slow in the beginning & correct the machine as stitches slip off easily. But once lined up it is fast. The picture above is the first sample I made with the loop feature as you can see 40 needles only makes small hats. I’ve attempted flat panel a couple times but haven’t really mastered it as the ends keep slipping and the sides look messy (yet it’s only a few hours now into playing with the machine). Although it’s a kids toy (ages 3 & up) its not all that easy to get started or end, so they will really need adult supervision. It only uses no. 4 worsted yarn with any success, I’ve tried scrubby yarn & a bulk and the machine makes grinding noises so I stopped. As it’s only hours since the machine arrived this is only an initial impression.

Great Product
This works very well especially considering the price compared to “pro” brand names. Very happy with my purchase. It works better on higher quality yarn (the photo is Cascades Eco+) than it does on the 100% acrylic. This time around absolutely no stitches dropped.
