Genie 6172H-O Wall Mount Smart Garage Door Opener with Aladdin Connect, Wall Mounted Compact Space Saving Opener

This opener is easier to install than I expected. It took me about an hour. It controls my 12x12 insulated door with no issues and is more quiet than I could have expected.

This opener is great. I have 12 foot ceiling with 8 foot doors, and I didn't want to suspend an opener that far below the ceiling (I just don't think you can make it look good). These look great up on the door header. I liked that they can be installed either side. I have two doors, and I was able to get these inbetween the doors, and this saved on electric as I only needed one outlet for both doors. Setup was really easy, and the genie app works well. Been using them for over a month and no complaints.

I am very happy with the purchase, but although installation is well described it is best to be aware that the tracks of the door are very likely to need adjusting to avoid rubbing of the "springs" that need to be installed at the bottom of the door. One should be comfortable with DIY ing. Tightening of the "collar" onto the door spring and the opener should be carefully accomplished (one full turn of the screws is noted on instructions, so carefully mark the screws to know when you have done one full turn for each)

I had never seen or used one of these wall mount units before, but I heard they were a great solution for a garage door opener where there was not enough headroom for a standard type.More than pleasantly surprised!Install only took me a couple hours, adjustments were easy, and the thing is so quiet that we cant even hear the garage door opening from our rec-room which is directly aver the garage.Would definitely recommend and plan to buy another for the other side of the garage.

So I had a $50000 Pole Barn built and I needed 3 garage door openers decided to go with a genie model 6172. All 3 of them installed without a problem and work correctly with the exception of the one wireless wall controller does not seem to be powering up. I even tried new batteries in it. So I called genie's customer service line and they were not able to be able to send me the correct wall controller that came brand new inthe box..and they said they weren'table to help me and the lady hung up on me. This is the worst Case scenario for a company to treat their customers like that. Unbelievable I will never purchase a genie product again and will never recommend that company to anyone.

I installed two of these at my house recently. Very easy install using the Bilt app, thorough and well documented graphic instructions. The opener is easy to pair to my car's homelink, easy to mount, etc. After doing the first one, the second install took about 40 minutes the next week.I love the mobile app, notification of when the door is opened or closer, the ability to set a routine like automatically closing the door between 8pm and 8am and most importantly, how quiet the unit is.The only negative I'd give it is that it has a very very slight low hum when sitting idle. I didn't notice it with the first install but having 2 in the same garage I noticed it. I was annoyed for about 5 minutes and then forgot about it. Any time I'm in my garage I'm moving around, playing music or something that would distract me from the sound, it isn't something that would deter me from the purchase.Definitely recommend, happy I went with this. I spent months comparing the Chamberlain and Liftmaster and at the very last minute a friend suggested this one and I made an unexpected but fortunate swap.

After installing the mechanical the rest was easy. Just follow directions. The soft ware app is working out great. I can now monitor my door and open it when someone need access when I am not home and close it from where ever I am in the state. Love this garage opener. P.s. don't pull the manual override string to hard. there is an easy fix but you must take the machine apart and then reinstall the unit back on the wall.Approve this machine 100%. Real Quite.

So this unit comes with a bottom cover to hide the connections to the unit. Great idea but very poor execution. Your engineers need to try to install the base plate. You must remove the two screws the bottom which actually holds the face plate in place on the unit. The tolerances are so tight between the cabinet and the face plate it pressures the face panel off the unit and out of alignment with the screws. It would take a person with five arms to hold the face plate in the correct place then trying to get the screws in oh well just forget it. Very poor design. After several attempts I gave up. Your engineers really messed this one up. Suggestion. Add two additional screws in the bottom that hold the face plate so the other screws that hold the bottom plate aren’t holding on the face plate or check your manufacture because the unit must be being built out of spect. The face plate fits way too tight on the unit. Second issue you instructions are not very good on how to get the unit to re engage are pulling the emergency release for the door when tightening screws on the torsion bar. I tried multiple times and couldn’t get it done. The website is NO help. When you look online and ask the question how to resolve the problem it doesn’t even show this opener. Better documentation would be helpful. Overall like the product but you need to clean things up.
